I have two fashion stories and one Very cool (provocative!) celebrity story upcoming as well as some more advertising. But yanno how it goes, until it’s released I’m sworn to secrecy.

In the meantime I did a test last Thursday just on the fly with a photographer who is in LA from NYC/Chicago. What I love about working with really good photographers is you don’t know what they’re shooting until you see the final product. The shoot came together super quickly, and I just walked in blind. Didn’t know the girl, the styling, the anything. But I knew that that photographer’s work is Tres Dope so I went with it, and I’m glad I did. Here’s a teaser shot from some of the prelims he sent… Turns out the model I’d be working with is the fab CC Fontana (of Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency fame, now doing Big Thangs in her own right). More to follow…

This past August or so I worked on a Calendar shoot for the Men’s division of Ford Models West. Picture a screaming hot day in the remote desert, shooting at an abandoned motel, gas station and cafe – complete with a functional pool – that’s now used solely as a filming location. The location manager lives there in an air conditioned trailer with his two dogs and good thing too – I got mild heat exhaustion and I needed to sit in his air conditioned trailer to resuscitate myself. So there I was in the middle of nowhere watching Medical Mysteries while the location manager told me stories of him hanging out with Keith Richards. Awesome! Once revived, I went back out and worked on a bevy of gorgeous male models. Ah, the sacrifices one must make for one’s career… ;)

Further solidifying my status in the Teen Scene – I worked on a catalogue shoot for Pottery Barn Teen a bit ago and that catalogue has now hit the stores. It was nice to see this time my work wasn’t preempted by a Christmas Tree. HaHa!  It was a fun shoot, I always enjoy the teen stuff and working with the folks at Pottery Barn was a good time. Also, Big Thanks to my assistant, Elizabeth Hart for her work on the shoot as well. Thanks, girl! :)

I’m excited to say that the catalog is out and in stores now!

Hmmm… Christmas Trees don’t generally wear makeup or need their hair done…

Ah well, a bit of a disappointment but c’est la vie, c’est la guerre… Pottery Barn’s main catalogue does not usually use people models so I guess they decided it would be too random to do so all of a sudden with this catalog. My agency-mate Jeffrey Moss was the prop/set stylist for this shoot and as you can see, he did an amazing job. You can see some of my shots in action on the Pottery Barn website. And of course I have some up on my website, Makeupwerks.com. Actually, I just got to work with Pottery Barn again on a cover shoot for Pottery Barn Teen which should be out around February. (they do use models for the PBTeen covers all the time so I’m feeling a bit safer about that one :) )

Who knew such things existed in Fresno? I certainly did not, but contrary to my Big City snobbery, Fresno was a cool little city…. all the needed amenities (Trader Joes, Shoe Pavilion because I forgot to bring non flip-flop shoes with me, PF Chang’s for dinner) were all within a few blocks of my hotel room and the job was a mere 10 minute commute. 10 minutes?!? Hmmm… maybe living in Fresno wouldn’t be so bad after all…. But no… on second thought I didn’t find a Peet’s Coffee there…

I did the Rooftop shots (ballet dancer, models in white standing together), the guy and girl in the garden, the mom/dad/little girl scene… all that stuff. I assisted by fabulous makeup artist Danielle Pierson and hair artist extraordinare Laura Judson.
